35 pc of 18+ population fully vaccinated, 78 pc partially: Union Health Minister

New Delhi/UNI: After more than eight months into the roll-out of the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination programme, India has achieved full immunisation of 35 per cent of its adult population with both the doses of COVID vaccines, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced on Monday.

Meanwhile, 78 per cent of the targeted population has received at least one dose of the vaccines, he added.

Taking to Twitter, the Union Minister described it as an "extraordinary feat" and said India is rapidly progressing on the “path to defeat the virus”.

"An extraordinary feat of an extraordinary nation! India has administered the 1st Covid-19 vaccine dose to 78 per cent of the eligible population and the 2nd dose to 38 per cent of the eligible people. Congratulations to all as we rapidly progress on our path to defeat the virus!" Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted.

According to provisional data from the Union Health Ministry, the cumulative figure of total doses administered has crossed 106.7 crore after 47 lakh doses were administered on Monday.

"More than 33 crore Individuals have been fully vaccinated while over 73 crore people have received at least one shot of vaccines," the ministry said.

Meanwhile, the country logged 12,514 fresh cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours, taking the total case tally to 3,42,85,814. Meanwhile, 251 more people died due to COVID in the same duration pushing the death toll to 4,58,437.
