We are ready for Goods and Services Tax: SBI chairman

New Delhi, July 1 (IBNS): Within a day after the launch of one taxation system, State Bank of India chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya said the bank is ready for the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on Saturday.

 "SBI proudly announces its GST readiness," she said in a statement.

Bhattacharya said online payment of GST is fully available in SBI.

She said: "The biggest Indian Bank offers payment of GST online through internet Banking and SBI Debit cards."

"GST upto Rs 10000 can also be deposited in cash/ cheque/draft at our  25473 branches across the country. So, pay  online from the comfort of your home/office or  visit your nearest branch to pay GST," the SBI chairman added.

GST, the biggest tax reform since Indian independence, was launched on June 30 midnight by President Pranab Mukherjee in presence of PM Narendra Modi.
