Volvo unveils all-electric EX30 in India, deliveries from October
Kolkata: Volvo Car India on Monday unveiled its latest battery electric vehicle (BEV), the EX30, at its Kolkata dealership, marking a significant step in the automaker’s push to expand its electric line-up in the country.
The compact SUV will be officially launched with pricing details later this month, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin in October 2025.
The EX30, being assembled at Volvo’s Hosakote plant in Karnataka, is touted as the company’s most sustainable car yet, with the lowest carbon footprint of any Volvo EV.
Its interiors feature recycled materials such as denim, PET bottles, aluminium, and PVC pipes.
The car comes equipped with advanced safety technologies, including intersection auto brake, door-opening alerts, a unique battery safety cage, and Volvo’s Safe Space Technology powered by 5 cameras, 5 radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
The model has earned a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
Designed to appeal to urban buyers, the EX30 offers features like a Harman Kardon 1040W soundbar system with nine speakers, five ambient lighting themes inspired by Scandinavian seasons, and a 12.3-inch high-resolution central display with built-in Google apps, 5G connectivity, and OTA updates.
It has already won the Red Dot Award for Product Design 2024 and the World Urban Car of the Year 2024.
The SUV will be offered with an extended range single-motor variant delivering 272 hp, 343 Nm torque, and a WLTP-certified range of 480 km.
It accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and comes with an 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty.
Standard features include a wall box charger, NFC-based keyless entry, Digital Key Plus via the Volvo Cars App, and wireless smartphone charging.
With Volvo expanding its electric portfolio, the company said the EX30 represents not only a premium driving experience but also a stronger commitment to sustainability in India’s growing EV market.
