Vee Technologies’ engineering division delivers 3,000th fire truck design for the US

Global professional services company Vee Technologies' engineering business, which forayed into the challenging area of designing fire trucks for the US market a decade ago, has rolled out the design of its 3,000th fire truck this month.

The complexity of designing US fire trucks increases manifold because each US state has a unique fire code, owing to the variety of materials used in the construction of townhouses, residential and commercial complexes—many of them housed in skyscrapers.

The design process must address varying height requirements and operational tasks, including transporting firefighters to fire sites—often several hundred feet high—pumping water or fire-suppressant materials and rescuing those trapped in the inferno.

The Bengaluru- and Atlanta-headquartered firm provides specialized engineering design services focused on delivering reliability and speed of response in emergency situations. Vee Technologies’ engineers are adept at creating state code–specific designs for manufacturing fire apparatus that require precision, speed and the ability to adapt to evolving standards. To achieve this, the engineering team leverages vast amounts of data to develop and optimize detailed, code-compliant designs for fire apparatus that meet global safety norms.

The company’s consulting and professional services include fire protection system design; mass notification and fire alerts; compliant emergency lighting configurations; fire modelling and testing; sustainable (LEED) planning and design; and smoke management design.

Vee Technologies supports US fire engine manufacturers by providing an array of specialized engineering services from design, validation of design as well as manufacturing support. It helps design high-end fire apparatus -- from pumpers to aerials -- improving manufacturing efficiency and shortening time-to-market for custom emergency vehicles.

The company supports the entire lifecycle, from conceptual design to prototyping and final production. It will be showcasing its capabilities at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) International until April 25, 2026, at the Indiana Convention Centre and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Beyond the vehicle itself, the company offers BIM (Building Information Modelling) for fire protection and life safety systems in buildings. BIM is a digital, 3D process for designing, coordinating, and documenting fire safety systems—such as sprinkler networks, alarms, and hydrants—within a building’s virtual model. It enables engineers to detect clashes with other systems before construction, ensuring code compliance and improving safety.

As per industry estimates, the US$63 billion Engineering R&D segment of Indian IT firms contribute over one-fifth of  India’s over US$300 billion IT and BPM export revenues, and is the second-largest segment after IT services exports.

This segment focuses on product engineering, embedded systems, and digital manufacturing. Growth is driven by software-defined products, ER&D outsourcing, and strong demand from the automotive, telecom, and industrial sectors globally.
