Patiala: Torrent Gas has commenced supply of piped cooking gas in Punjab's Patiala city, the Punjab government said on Monday.

Punjab New and Renewable Energy Minister Aman Arora said the company has started supplying through 101 piped gas connections.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the piped natural gas connection takes away the need to book cylinders in advance and do the heavy lifting.

Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director, Torrent Gas said the company is committed to providing clean energy to the people of Punjab and towards this it has already made an investment of approximately Rs 300 crores so far.

"Piped natural gas offers an unparalleled convenience to a modern household by supplying uninterrupted cooking gas. This takes away the need to book the gas cylinder, angst of waiting for it and the fear of running out of gas in case of emergency," he said.

Torrent Gas, the city gas distribution arm of Torrent group, has been authorised by Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to provide compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) in Patiala, SAS Nagar, Sangrur and Malerkotla.
