Tata Motors cuts car prices by up to ₹1.55 lakh after GST rate cut

| @indiablooms | Sep 05, 2025, at 09:48 pm

Mumbai: Tata Motors on Friday announced that it will fully pass on the benefit of the upcoming Goods and Services Tax (GST) reduction to its customers, making its passenger vehicles cheaper by as much as ₹1.55 lakh from September 22.

The revision follows the GST Council’s decision to rationalise tax rates, bringing passenger vehicles into the lower slab. The updated prices will apply across Tata’s portfolio of cars and SUVs, covering both conventional and electric models.

“The reduction in GST on passenger vehicles, effective 22nd September 2025, is a progressive and timely decision that will make personal mobility more accessible for millions across India. Tata Motors will fully honor the intent and spirit of this reform by passing on the entire benefit of the reduction in GST to our customers,” said Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd.

Price benefits across models

According to Tata Motors, potential price cuts across its lineup are as follows:

  • Tiago: up to ₹75,000
  • Tigor: up to ₹80,000
  • Altroz: up to ₹1,10,000
  • Punch: up to ₹85,000
  • Nexon: up to ₹1,55,000
  • Curvv: up to ₹65,000
  • Harrier: up to ₹1,40,000
  • Safari: up to ₹1,45,000

The company expects festive season demand to get a strong boost, urging customers to book vehicles early for timely delivery.

The move comes as the automobile industry anticipates a surge in sales following the GST overhaul, which slashed levies on consumer-centric items and vehicles while retaining higher rates for luxury and sin goods.
