Mumbai: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), one of India’s leading integrated energy companies, has appointed Subhankar Sen as its new Director (Marketing), the company announced on Monday.

A BPCL veteran with over three decades of experience, Sen takes over the role at a crucial juncture as the company sharpens its focus on innovation, customer-centricity, and sustainability.

Sen has held several critical leadership positions within BPCL, driving transformation across key business verticals.

As Business Head – Retail (West), he led a significant revamp of retail operations, introduced digital-first initiatives, and launched BeCafe, a modern café concept at fuel stations that expanded BPCL’s footprint in non-fuel retailing.

He also played a strategic role in scaling MAK Lubricants, not only across India but also in overseas markets such as Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the UAE, and Africa.

Under his leadership, BPCL advanced localisation efforts in alignment with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, while the MAK Lubricants Solutions program helped customers enhance operational efficiency and lower total cost of ownership.

In brand strategy, Sen has been central to BPCL’s loyalty and consumer connect initiatives, the company said.

He contributed to the creation and expansion of flagship platforms like Pure for Sure, Speed, PetroBonus, SmartFleet, BPCL-SBI Card, In&Out Stores, and UFill. His work in forming strategic partnerships across banking, retail, QSR, and automotive sectors helped BPCL maintain relevance in a rapidly evolving consumer landscape.

Sen also served as Oil Industry Coordinator, playing a key role in supporting India’s clean mobility efforts. He was instrumental in the rollout of Doorstep Diesel Delivery and led the eDrive initiative to build EV Fast Charging Corridors across India, reinforcing BPCL’s commitment to supporting the electric mobility ecosystem.

His appointment as Director (Marketing) comes as BPCL steps up efforts toward a digitally enabled, sustainable, and consumer-focused future.
