Mumbai/UNI: The BSE index of Bombay Stock Exchange on Thursday fell by 237 points to 34,010.86 in opening trade as selling was seen in Power, Technology, IT, Health care and Energy stocks amid weak global cues.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too eased by 36.75 points to 10,079.40.
The Sensex registered intraday high and low at 34,219.39 and 34,010.86 points respectively.
The Nifty registered intraday high and low at 10,112.05 and 10,047.10 points respectively.
The sectoral indices like Power Realty, Technology, Eney and Health care dragged the market in early trade.
The midcap was up by 0.57 per cent and smallcap was up by 0.56 per cent.
In 30 scrips, 15 advanced while 15 declined.
The losers were Sun Pharma by 2.48 per cent to Rs 486.75, Titan by 1.67 per cent to Rs 961.20, TCS by 1.39 per cent to Rs 2079.05, Reliance industries by 1.13 per cent to Rs 1554.30 and Tata Steel by 1.11 per cent to Rs 320.65.
The gainers were Indusind Bank by 6.94 per cent to Rs 535.45, HeroMoto Corp by 1.55 per cent to Rs 2327.65, Nestle India by 0.99 per cent to Rs 16,726.80, Axis Bank by 0.98 per cent to Rs 432 and ONGC by 0.91 per cent to Rs 89.
The global markets were seen as weak as the US Fed's latest policy statement in which it reassured investors of its support for the economy but projected a 6.5 per cent decline in US GDP this year.
