Sensex down over 100 points

Mumbai/UNI: Snapping a winning streak in the last five sessions, the BSE Sensex on Wednesday fell 162 pts at 65,584.33 in the opening session on profit booking.

The Nifty too eased 19 pts at 19,369.95.

The stocks like Bankex, Technology, IT and Financial Services drifted lower on Wednesday.

However, the Midcap moved up by 0.49 pc and the Small-cap by 0.48 pc.

In 30 scrips, 19 advanced while 11 declined.

The losers were HDFC Bank by 2.44 pc to Rs 1686.50, HDFC by 2.32 pc to Rs 2814, Wipro by 0.92 pc to Rs 392.45 and Axis Bank by 0.29 pc to Rs 968.25.

The gainers were IndusInd Bank by 1.96 pc to Rs 1394.10, ICICI Bank by 1.53 pc to Rs 958.05, Asian Paints by 1.14 pc to Rs 3386 and Maruti Suzuki by 0.90 pc to Rs 9733.
