Maruti Suzuki India reports top monthly sales performance in Oct

Gurugram: Maruti Suzuki India reported its highest-ever monthly sales in October 2023, with nearly 200,000 units sold, driven by strong performance in the domestic market, particularly in the compact and utility vehicle segments, as well as impressive export numbers.

The largest car manufacturer in the country achieved a total of 199,217 units sold, combining both domestic sales and international shipments. This marked an 18.92% increase compared to the 167,520 units sold in the same month the previous year.

"In October 2023, Maruti Suzuki India sold a total of 199,217 units, which is its highest ever monthly sales volume," the carmaker said in a BSE filing.

Specifically, Maruti's domestic passenger vehicle sales saw a 19.74% growth, reaching 168,047 units in October 2023, up from 140,337 units in the corresponding month of the previous year. Within this, the compact segment accounted for 80,662 units, while the utility vehicle segment contributed 59,147 units.

Sales of light commercial vehicles also saw a significant uptick, rising by 33.68% to 3,894 units in October 2023, compared to 2,913 units in October 2022.

Maruti's sales to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) experienced a notable increase of 39.32%, reaching 5,325 units in October 2023, up from 3,822 units in the same month the previous year. Additionally, the carmaker's exports grew by 7.35%, with 21,951 units shipped in October 2023, compared to 20,448 units in the corresponding month of the previous year.
