Market update: Sensex, Nifty post marginal gains amid volatile trading

| @indiablooms | Nov 13, 2025, at 05:19 pm

New Delhi/IBNS: The stock market ended the business with marginal gains after volatile trading throughout the day on Thursday, media reports said.

BSE Sensex ended with a gain of 12 points to close at 84,478.67 while Nifty surged only four points to call it a day at 25,879.15.

The stocks which were among the top gainers were Asian Paints, ICICI Bank, PowerGrid, L&T and Bajaj Finserv.

Reliance, Kotak Bank, Titan, HDFC Bank and SBI were among the laggards.

Auto stocks like Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles (2.26% down), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.45% down) (1.15% down) were among the losers.

Asian Paints stock prices on Thursday jumped massively after the company reported robust earnings in the second quarter of the ongoing fiscal year.

Asian Paints Ltd on Wednesday reported a strong operational performance for the quarter ended September 30, 2025 (Q2FY26), driven by robust demand in its domestic decorative business and improved efficiency across verticals.

The company achieved double-digit volume growth of 10.9% and a 6% increase in value in its domestic decorative segment, despite disruptions caused by an extended monsoon season. Growth was propelled by steady demand from both urban and rural markets, supported by regional activations, marketing campaigns, and strong brand-building initiatives.

Asian Paints said its Automotive and Industrial Protective Coatings businesses also performed well, contributing to an overall 6.7% value growth in the domestic coatings portfolio.

SBI shares were in focus after the lender has inked a Non-Binding Term Sheet with Care Ratings Limited, Business Today report said.

SBI inked the deal to buy 29,70,000 equity shares of CareEdge Global IFSC Limited.

V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services, said as quoted by ABP News, "The market needs more triggers to take it to new record highs.

"With the outcome of the Bihar polls largely discounted by the market, there are no political triggers that can push the market significantly higher. The reverse might happen if the actual poll results turn out to be different from the exit polls."
