Market reports highest closing in 2016 so far

Mumbai, Jun 2 (IBNS) A late rally helped the market end Thursday with its highest closing in seven months with Sensex up 129.21 points to 26843.14 and Nifty up 39 points to 8218.95, largely supported by heavyweight stocks.

Strong buying in banking and financials, telecom, metals and select auto stocks boosted the market.

Some of the top stocks that ended as gainers on Thursday were Coal India, Tata Steel, Axis Bank, HUL and Hero MotoCorp while Wipro, Sun Pharma, Lupin, ITC and Bajaj Auto noted a decline in share prices.
