New Delhi: Former NITI Ayog CEO Parameswaran Iyer on Tuesday stressed the importance of sustainable technologies in the petrochemical industry, and suggested that if required the existing policies should be reviewed to promote investments in this sector.

Iyer was delivering the keynote address at a technical summit organised by FICCI themed "Make India a Global Petrochemical Leader by using Sustainable cutting-edge Technologies" in Delhi.

Discussions at the summit focused on the growing demand for petrochemicals and how the Indian petrochemical industry can take advantage of new and innovative technologies to meet this demand, while promoting sustainability, increasing production efficiency, and reducing costs.

Industry leaders shared their thoughts on how to leverage technologies such as Crude to Chemicals to reduce feedstock requirements and make India a leading player in the global petrochemical industry.

The event featured panel discussions from top industry players and experts in the field of petrochemicals, including Cmicals & Petrochemicals Secretary Arun Baroka, Petroleum and Natural Gas Secretary Pankaj Jain, HPCL Mittal Energy CEO Prabh Das, Indian Oil Director (R&D) Dr. SSV Ramakumar and Haldia Petrochemicals Chairman Dr. Purnendu Chatterjee among many other industry stalwarts.

The talks emphasised the significance of consistency and stressed the necessity of collaboration between the government and industry in order to realise this objective.
