India's WPI inflation spikes to 12.54 percent in October
New Delhi: India's Wholesale Price Index (WPI) spiked to 12.54 percent in October, as per government released data on Monday.
It stood at 1.31 percent in October 2020.
"The annual rate of inflation is 12.54 percent (Provisional) for the month of October, 2021 (over October, 2020) as compared to 1.31 percent in October, 2020," read a government statement.
The high rate of inflation in October 2021 is primarily due to rise in prices of mineral oils, basic metals, food products, crude petroleum & natural gas, chemicals and chemical products etc. as compared the corresponding month of the previous year, the statement said.
The month over month change in WPI index for the month of October, 2021 (as compared to September, 2021) was 2.28 percent.
