Indian Market: Sensex zooms 578.51 pts

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday added another huge gains of 578.51 pts to close at 59,719.74 on the strength of Health and Care, Consumer Durable, Metal and Auto stocks amid strong global cues.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose 194 pts at 17,816.25

The Sensex opened higher by 415 pts at 59,556.91. It was spurted 964 pts at 60,105.79, days high, before closing at 59,719.74, up 578.51 pts from its previous close.

In scrips, Sun Pharma was a major gainer, up 4.22 pc to Rs 911.45 followed by Dr Reddy's Lab by 3.31 pc to Rs 4234.60, Tata Steel by 2.86 pc to Rs 106.10, IndusInd Bank by 2.77 pc to Rs 1260 and Titan by 2.10 pc to Rs 2675.85.

The losers were Nestle India Ltd by 0.64 pc to Rs 18,645.55, ITC by 0.22 pc to Rs 334.90, Infosys by 0.21 pc to Rs 1387.40 and Powergrid by 0.15 pc to Rs 232.64.

The Mid Cap rose by 1.65 pc and Small Cap by 1.59 pc.

In 30 scrips 24 advanced while 6 declined.

The Asian Market was seen strong as Australia went up 1.17 pc, China by 0.22 pc, Hong Kong by 1.30 pc, Japan by 0.44 pc and Taiwan by 0.86 pc.
