Indian Market: Sensex up 333.35 points

The equity market remained strong on Friday too, as the BSE Sensex rallied 333.35 pts to close at 66,598.91 on the strength of real estate, capital goods, and power stocks.

The Nifty gained 92.90 points to 19,819.95 points.

The equity market opened on a strong note at 66,381.43, rising 116 points.

It spurted 501 pts at 66,766.92, a day high, before closing at 66,598.91, up 333.35 points from its previous close.

In stocks, real estate was a smart gainer, up 2.13 percent, followed by capital goods by 1.51 percent, power by 1.48 percent, and consumer durables by 1.35 percent.

In scrips, NTPC was a major gainer, moving up by 2.75 pc to Rs 240.60, Tata Motors by 1.91 pc to Rs 626.50, L&T by 1.89 pc to Rs 2900.95, Bajaj Finance by 1.42 pc to Rs 1540.95, and Bharti Airtel by 1.02 pc to Rs 884.

The losers were Ultracemco by 0.79 pc to Rs 8424, ITC by 0.71 pc to Rs 442.60, Tech Mahindra by 0.68 pc to Rs 1260.70, and Wipro by 0.57 pc to Rs 430.20.

The midcap rose by 0.92 percent and the small cap by 0.43 percent.

In 30 scrips, 21 advanced while 9 declined.
