Mumbai: Snapping a winning streak of the last five sessions, the BSE Sensex ended negative on Wednesday ended negative at 65446.04, down 33 pts on profit booking while the Nifty ended almost steady at 19,398.50, rising 9.50 pts.
The Sensex opened on a flat note at 65,493.68, up 14 points.
During the day, it surged 105 points to 65,584.33, a day high.
Later, it slipped nearly 223 pts to 65,256.49, a day low, before closing at 65,446.04, sliding 33.01 pts from its previous close.
Stocks like Financial Services,Telecommunications, and Bankex fell on Wednesday.
In scrips, HDFC Bank was a major loser, down 2.97 pc to Rs 1677.90, followed by HDFC by 2.76 pc to Rs 2801.15, Bajaj Finserv by 0.80 pc to Rs 1616.45, Wipro by.53 pc to Rs 394, and Axis Bank by 0.43 pc to Rs 966.70.
The gainers were Maruti Suzuki by 3.52 percent to Rs 9985.60, Tech Mahindra by 2.36 percent to Rs 1175.25, and IndusInd Bank by 2.30 percent to Rs 1398.85.
The midcap increased by 0.68 percent and the small cap by 0.62 percent.
In 30 scrips, 20 advanced while 10 declined.
