Indian Market: Sensex down over 200 pts
Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex continued to slide for the fifth session on Tuesday as it dropped 261 pts to 58,204.33 in opening trade, as heavy selling was witnessed in Energy, Finance, IT and Bankex stocks.
The Nifty too fell by 44.35 pts at 17,372.20.
The sensex registered days high and low at 58,401.30 and 57,718.34 pts respectively.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,422.60 and 17,216.10 pts.
In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.
The losers were IndusInd Bank by 2.95 pc to Rs 977, Asian Paints by 1.83 pc to Rs 3203.70, Infosys by 1.69 pc to Rs 1728.80 and ICICI Bank by 1.31 pc to Rs 743.05.
The gainers were Tata Steel by 3.22 pc to Rs 1202.25, Powergrid by 1.78 pc to Rs 197.70 and NTPC by 1 pc to Rs 131.50.
