Indian Market: Sensex advances 403.19 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday rallied 403.19 pts at 55,958.98 at close, following gains in Materials, Metals, Oil and Gas and Bankex stocks.

The Nifty too rose by 28.15 pts at 16,624.60.

The sensex opened in green at 55,647.11, up 82 pts. During the day, it zoomed up 468 pts to 56,023.22, days high, before closing at 55,958.98, up by 403.19 pts from its previous close.

The sensex registered days high and low at 56,023.22 and 55,536.84 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 16,647.10 and 16,495.20 pts respectively.

The sectoral indices like Materials, Metal, Oil and Gas, Capital Goods and Bankex kept the market firm for another's day today.

In scrips Bajaj Finserv was a major gainer up by 7.92 pc to Rs 16,477 followed by Tata Steel, Bajaj Finance and HDFC Bank.

However, selling in Nestle India, Infosys, HDFC and HCL Technology capped from further gains.

The Mid Cap rose by 1.52 pc and Small Cap by 1.69 pc.

In 30 scrips, 20 advanced while 10 declined.

A mixed trend was seen in Asian Market, as Shanghai SE Compo Index up by 0.27 pc and Nikkei 225 by 2.07 Hang Seng fell by 0.27 pc.
