Indian Market: Sensex advanced 491.01 pts

Mumbai:  The BSE Sensex on Monday rallied further by 491.01 points at 58,410.98 on renewed buying in Utilities, Power, Bankex and Financial services stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too gained 126.10 points at 17,311.80.

The Sensex slipped 167 points at 57,752.50 in opening trade. It was dropped 280 points at 57,639.80, days low.

Later, it was spurted 530 points at 58,449, days high, before closing at 58,410.98, up 491.01 points from its previous close.

In scrips, SBI was a major gainer, up 3.06 per cent to Rs 543.20, Bajaj Finserv by 2.05 per cent to Rs 1723, Axis Bank by 1.97 per cent to Rs 816.10, ICICI Bank by 1.84 per cent to Rs 886.10 and NTPC by 1.64 per cent to Rs 167.70.

The losers were L& T by 1.37 per cent to Rs 1885.30, HCL Technology by 0.75 per cent to Rs 194.85, Wipro by 0.52 per cent to Rs 375.35 and Tata Steel by 0.45 per cent to Rs 99.64.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.26 per cent and Small Cap by 0.09 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 27 advanced while 3 declined.
