Exide revamps its pan-India doorstep battery service

Kolkata/IBNS: The batmobile doorstep battery service kicked off by leading battery manufacturer Exide Industries will be extended to over 250 Indian cities by end of August, a senior company official said on Monday.

Arun Mital, Director of Automotive, Exide, said, “The inverter and its battery today is an important part of any modern household and our new service facility is aimed at making it more convenient for the customer to address his/her battery or inverter service issues.”

This service was already available to Exide customer's base, claimed Arun Mital. But the system and methods have been changed to give a better service to the customers, he added.

The earlier system of a central team of mechanics is being done away within the interest of speed and scalability.

While the service is free for Exide products under warranty, it is chargeable for any other brand or Exide out of warranty product.

The newly launched service will cover the Exide products including car batteries for individual owners, inverters and inverter batteries.

A company official said, "West Bengal every month has a market of about 22,000 inverter batteries out of which 60 percent of the market is with us, so that is the volume we already sell and this is an average per month, therefore, there is an immense market out there."
