Consumer Price index up 0.2 points, Puducherry records maximum rise

Shimla/UNI: The All lndia Consumer Price Index (CPI) for June increased by 0.2 points and stood at 129.2, as per government data.

On one-month percentage change, CPI increased by 0.16 percent with respect to the previous month and compared to an increase of 0.91 percent recorded between corresponding months a year ago, according to the data released on Friday

YoY inflation for the month stood at 6.16 percent compared to 6.97 percent for the previous month, and 5.57 percent during the corresponding month in the previous year.

Similarly, the food inflation stood at 6.73 percent against 7.92 percent of the previous month and 5.61 percent during the corresponding month a year ago.

The maximum upward pressure in the current index came from the Food & Beverages (F&B) group contributing 0.20 percentage points to the total change.

Potato, onion, tomato, cabbage, apple, banana, coriander, chilly rry, fish fresh, poultry chicken, vada, idli dosa, cooked meal, cooking gas, kerosene oil, electricity domestic among others are responsible for the rise in index.

However, this spike was largely checked by petrol for vehicle use, rice, mango, chilli green, and lemon among others that pushed the index down.

Going by centres, Puducherry recorded a maximum increase of 2.6 points followed by Amritsar and Tripura with 2.2 and 2.0 points respectively.

Fifteen centres recorded an increase between 1 to 1.9 points; 33 centres between 0.1 to 0.9 points.

Sangrur in Punjab recorded a maximum decrease of 2.4 points.

Among others, five centers recorded decreases between 1 to 1.9 points; 25 centres between 0.1 to 0.9 points; rest of the six centres' indices remained stationary.
