During the meeting, Adhikari sought Canadian investment for the proposed second airport at Kalyani, The Times of India reported.
The greenfield airport project was announced in the new government's inaugural Budget, presented by Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta last month.
Speaking to The Times of India, Cooter said Canadian investors may consider the Chief Minister's proposal.
The state government plans to develop the airport under the public-private partnership (PPP) model and is in the process of identifying around 1,000 acres of land for the project.
Beyond aviation, Cooter said Canadian companies could also explore investment opportunities in West Bengal's infrastructure sector, including roads, information technology and defence.
More than 600 Canadian companies currently operate in India across a wide range of sectors.
